I purchased in 2008 a brand new Toyota Yaris from Sullivan Brothers Toyota in Kingston massachusetts. . When I picked up the car only one FOB key and a valet key was provided. When I inquired to the salesman why, he stated that only one FOB key is provided, and if I needed a second one, the cost would be $600.00. I did not purchase the second key. On Dec 19, 2011 the one FOB key stopped functioning. I went to Mcgee Toyota in Hanover because it was closer than Sullivans. I thought it just needed a new battery. It turns out it needed to be reprogrammed and Mcgee said it was due to excessive use. The cost to reprogram was $99.50 which I paid. But the technician asked for the second FOB. I told him we only recived one. He told me that is wrong, there is always two with a new car purchase. I called Sullivan Brothers and spoke with Michelle Smith. She acknowledged that we should have received two. She said since so much time has passed, all she could offer was to pay for half the cost of the second key. I believe I should not have to pay half the cost for anything that I was supposed to receive in the first place. So much time had passed because we trusted their salesman and had no reason to think we were deceived until Mcgee told us so. I believe Sullivan should provide me with what I was supposed to get when I purchased the car.
I would like to have Sullivan Brothers supply me with the second FOB key that I was supposed receive when the car was purchased ,and not charge me half the cost, and I would like Sullivan Brothers to reimburse me the $99.50 I had to pay to reprogram the one key they did give me. It became non functional due to excessive use. There would not have been any excessive use if I had the two keys I was supposed to have.
